Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Students have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them, namely a provision that is different or additional to that which is normally available for students of the same age.

Students have SEND if they:

  • Have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of students of the same age.
  • Have a disability, which prevents or hinders them from making use of educational facilities provided for children of the same age.

Students may experience SEND for a short time or for the whole of their school life. Please see the documentation below.
