Generation Innovation, Malvern Three Counties Show Ground:
Year 9 students were taken to picturesque Malvern to experience a range of lectures and workshops based around STEM subjects. Students were shown 3D printers and the range of products they can produce as well as sitting in a car of the future. Many local businesses and employers were exhibiting, allowing students to see the wide range of potential STEM careers. Students were able to hold baby chicks as they learnt about the food industry, build robots to complete set tasks as well as the highlight of the day, the space dome. Students and staff climbed into an inflatable space dome to be transported to the moon in a theatre presentation, explaining how countries were challenged to launch their own rockets to the moon, land safely and travel to the furthest points. This was a great introduction to the term and clearly highlights the demand for STEM careers and education.
Friday 20th November
30 Yr 8 and Yr 9 pupils went to the Skills Show at the NEC. The Skills Show is the nation’s largest skills and careers event that helps to shape the future of a new generation. Pupils had the chance to experience a wider range of career from the Army and Navy to Fashion, Hairdressing, and Catering.
